Adjunct Faculty – Accounting

Seminole State College of Florida is seeking an adjunct faculty member committed to student success and academic excellence in the Accounting department.

Responsibilities

Adjudicate the teaching of assigned courses, including developing and posting syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments, grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback. Engage in professional development, maintain effective use of CANVAS, and communicate with students, colleagues, and supervisors. Contribute to curriculum improvement efforts.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and post course syllabus to the College‑approved system by the posted deadline.
  • Prepare for and deliver instruction in the chosen modality and location.
  • Plan and deliver instruction designed to enhance student learning.
  • Modify assignments, assessments, and course materials to support and evaluate student understanding of course outcomes.
  • Grading student work and providing constructive feedback in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the College and department.
  • Validate textbooks, submit final student grades by established deadlines.
  • Remain current on use of CANVAS as required by departmental guidelines.
  • Respond to communication from students, colleagues, and supervisors in a timely fashion.
  • Meet with students individually to review coursework as needed.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to support curriculum improvement as appropriate to promote student success.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • OR Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Accounting.
  • OR Master’s degree in a Business or Accounting related field and a current and active CPA license in any U.S. state.

  • Professional certification.

Work Environment
  • Classroom/lab setting.
  • Flexible hours, days, and assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.
Compensation & Benefits

Adjunct faculty are paid according to the non‑bargaining unit salary schedule based on the instructor’s highest degree earned. Pay, professional development opportunities, retirement savings options, and campus resources are available to adjunct faculty. Adjunct faculty also have free access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64 and related HR policies.
