Adjunct Faculty are responsible for teaching assigned courses, including developing and posting syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments, grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback.
Essential Functions- Develop a course syllabus in the approved format and post it by deadlines.
- Prepare for and deliver class, studio, clinical, or lab instruction as scheduled.
- Use assigned instructional materials to plan and deliver instruction designed to enhance student learning.
- Develop or modify assignments, assessments, and other course materials to support and evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
- Grade student work and provide constructive feedback soon after assessment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the college and department.
- Validate textbooks, post course syllabi, class rosters, and submit final student grades by established deadlines.
- Stay current with the college’s Online Learning Management System (currently CANVAS).
- Respond promptly to communication from students, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Meet with students individually to review coursework as needed.
- Collaborate with other faculty to improve curricula and promote student success.
- Master’s degree (M.A., M.S., M.F.A., or M. Arch) in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design.
- Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Architecture, Built Environment, Commercial Design, Design History and Theory, Historic Preservation, Human Environmental Design, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Sustainable Design Studies, Themed Entertainment, or other related design disciplines.
- Master’s degree or higher AND Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or closely related field AND currently NCIDQ certified or licensed as an Interior Designer in any U.S. state territory; OR
- Terminal degree qualifications of a minimum of eight years of professional practice experience, including Ph.D. in Interior Design, Master of Architecture (M. Arch.), or Master of Interior Design, OR master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture (M.A., M.S., M.F.A.) with a major, concentration, or emphasis in Interior Design, AND currently licensed as an Interior Designer in any U.S. state or territory.

- NCIDQ certification desired (for Interior Designers only).
- Teaching experience desired.
- Professional registration or licensure desired.
- Professional practice experience in the field desired.
- Studio courses taught by faculty with a professional degree in Interior Design as defined by CIDA.
- Commitment to creating an atmosphere of quality instruction aligned with Seminole State College’s mission and vision.
- Professional expertise in the specific field/discipline.
- Maintenance of faculty credentials as required by accrediting agencies.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance learning.
- Professional, courteous demeanor.
- Commitment to supporting student learning and development.
- Works in a classroom/lab setting.
- Flexible hours, days, and assigned campus location may vary with enrollment.

Adjunct faculty also receive free access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Compensation follows the Non‑Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule for College Credit Courses.
