Responsibilities

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for teaching assigned courses, which includes developing and posting syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments, grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback. In addition, Adjunct Faculty are expected to engage in professional development, effectively utilize the College’s Online Learning Management System (CANVAS), and maintain open communication with students, colleagues, and supervisors. They may also contribute to curriculum improvement efforts aimed at enhancing student success.

Essential

Functions
  • Develop a course syllabus in the format determined by the College and post the syllabus to the College-approved system by posted deadlines.
  • Prepare for and deliver class, studio, clinical, or lab instruction; at days, times, modalities and locations determined by the College.
  • Use assigned instructional materials to plan and deliver instruction designed to enhance student learning.
  • Develop or modify assignments, assessments, and other course materials to support and evaluate student understanding of course learning outcomes established in the course syllabus and per department guidelines.
  • Grade student work and provide constructive feedback to students in a timely fashion, including resolution of incomplete or disputed grades.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the college and department.
  • Validate textbooks, post course syllabi, class/grade rosters, and submit final student grades by established deadlines.
  • Remain current with how to use the College’s Online Learning Management System (currently CANVAS) as required by departmental guidelines.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to communication from students, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Meet with students individually to review coursework as needed.
  • Adjunct faculty may work with other faculty in support of curriculum improvement as appropriate to promote students’ success and mastery of course and program competencies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

Compensation & Support

Adjunct faculty are paid according to Seminole State College’s Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule, based on the instructor’s highest degree earned. This posting is for a Non-College Credit Course. Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020.
