Direct message the job poster from Hoverfly Technologies
Join a collaborative engineering team working hands-on with embedded software, real hardware, and aerospace‑grade unmanned systems
. As our Software Test Engineer, you’ll verify the reliability and performance of firmware, embedded control software, and real‑time systems used in our aerial platforms, ground stations, and test equipment. This role is not web/app/cloud testing
—it is hardware‑in‑the‑loop, system‑level, embedded software testing with real mission impact.
- Work directly with embedded processors, sensors, interfaces, and flight‑critical software
- Test software in hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL), instrumented rigs, and live flight environments
- Influence quality of real UAV systems deployed in defense and tactical operations
- Be part of a team that values precision engineering, hands‑on debugging, and real‑world performance data
- Executing embedded software and firmware test plans on hardware, simulators, and tethered drone systems
- Running tests involving UART/SPI/I2C, radio modules, control loops, sensors, and flight/ground system components
- Analyzing telemetry, system logs, and fault traces to identify root causes and performance issues
- Supporting hardware bring‑up, regression testing, and integration testing across drone and ground system components
- Updating test documentation and contributing to configuration and version control workflows (GIT)
- Participating in flight tests, lab tests, and HIL simulations to validate mission‑readiness
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Hands‑on experience testing embedded software, firmware, RTOS systems, robotics, avionics, or hardware‑integrated systems
- Understanding of control systems, sensor integration, real‑time embedded behavior, or communication protocols
- Ready to dig through large system logs, telemetry data, or bus traffic (CAN, UART, SPI, etc.) to find failure modes
- Familiarity with flight systems, unmanned vehicles, robotics, PID loops, or similar technologies is a strong advantage
Position is onsite in Sanford, FL, with an amazing team and a laid‑back environment.
Must be fully authorized to work in the United States and be qualified to hold a DoD clearance.
