Position: Firefighter/EMT & Firefighter/Paramedic (56-hour*)

Annual salaries are not inclusive of any automatic FLSA overtime for shift employees on a 56‑hour workweek schedule.

Paramedic Incentive Information: Starting salary for State‑certified Firefighter/Paramedic, after County‑certified, is $66,325.

Paramedics will receive a paramedic incentive of $4.47/hour for 56 hours per week and $6.25/hour for 40 hours per week, paid to newly hired and newly certified Paramedics the pay period after passing the practice parameters exam approved by the Seminole County Medical Director.

Required Tests:
  • FireTEAM Test – Take through National Testing Network ( Find Jobs > Firefighter Jobs). Must be completed within a year (365 days) prior to the closing date on the job posting.
  • Physical Ability Screening – Can be taken through Seminole County Fire Department or National Testing Network.
    • NTN – Taking the CPAT with National Testing Network ( Exams > CPAT) must be passed within a year prior to the closing date of this job posting. CPM results are automatically sent to our department. CPAT Exemption:
      If you have two years of fire experience and are in good standing with your department, you may be exempt. Email
    • SCFD – If taking your physical ability screening with Seminole County Fire Department, please send an email to  for more information.
Required Documents:
  • Tobacco Affidavit (must be notarized prior to submission, with a date no earlier than 1/8/26) –  to view and print Affidavit.
  • Valid Firefighter Certificate of Compliance (issued by Florida State Fire Marshal). If you have recently graduated and do not have your Certificate, you can submit your application without it but must submit by March 4th.
  • Valid Florida EMT or Paramedic License (issued by Florida Department of Health). If you have recently graduated and do not have your License, you can submit your application without it but must submit by March 4th.
  • Valid EVOC Certificate or Letter of Completion – This is the 16‑hr. E‑Vehicle Operators Course (must be EVOC; CEVO is not sufficient). Typically, this certification is obtained during EMT training. If EVOC certification is needed, please review institutions that offer EMT programs, as they can direct you to available EVOC training opportunities. If you have recently graduated and do not have your Certificate, you can submit your application without it but must submit by March 4th.
  • Grooming & Appearance Standards – Please review standards and complete page 6.  to review and print the Affidavit on page 6.
Internal Fire/EMS Skills Assessment:

Candidates who submit all required paperwork and receive passing scores on both the CPAT and FireTEAM tests will be notified by email to sign up for our internal Fire/EMS Skills Assessment, scheduled February 26–27, 2026.

Interview:
Upon successful completion of the Internal Fire/EMS Skills Assessment, candidates will be scheduled for interviews on March 5–6, 2026. Please be prepared to provide two letters of recommendation at the interview.
