Business Data Analyst, Systems & Technology
The Business Data Analyst, Systems & Technology plans, coordinates, and leads technical and functional projects for the department and Student Affairs division. Performs complex data analysis to drive data-informed decisions, develops efficient processes, and creates actionable reports for the department and Student Affairs Division. Disseminates best practices, creates technical documentation, and ensures staff are trained on current and new applications. Supervises technical and functional staff.
EssentialFunctions
- Supervises technical/functional staff to ensure timely and accurate processes, including mentoring, coaching, scheduling, managing workload, training, development, and performance evaluation.
- Leads technical/functional team in developing comprehensive test cases. Coordinates and evaluates testing results, ensures system data integrity and quality, and manages system problems and errors with assigned developers.
- Collects, organizes, and analyzes institutional data to learn trends, provide actionable insights, and identify areas of improvement for the department and Student Affairs Division.
- Creates queries and reports to extract and analyze data from Peoplesoft Campus Solutions and other data sources to meet the analytical needs of Student Affairs.
- Coordinates beginning and end-of-term functions including multiple term registration, term activations, enrollment appointments, grade roster validations, grade posting, and reporting of student academic progress and honors.
- Coordinates People Soft bundle and system upgrade testing for Student Affairs. Leads Technical/functional team members to ensure the student life cycle is fully assessed for all departments.
- Collaborates with other business and technical staff to analyze Student Affairs functional requirements, develop fit/gap analyses, and translate user expectations into technical specifications for future process enhancements and customizations.
- Acts as a liaison between the Registrar’s Office and technical staff, overseeing the development, implementation, and enhancement of business processes. Leads and facilitates the analysis of the department’s business processes, practices, and workflows for improvements, ensuring effective operations of system processes.
- Coordinates the testing of new software functionality during upgrades to ensure optimal system performance. Recommends modifications to People Soft Campus Solutions as needed.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive business process documentation and operational user guides for People Soft Campus Solutions and other applications, ensuring compliance with college brand standards.
- Oversees the timely and accurate submission of student data to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC). Collaborates with the NSC and technical/functional team to update reports, reconcile and resolve reporting issues, and accommodate changes.
- Stays current on higher education best practices and new technologies related to leveraging data analytics in student services/affairs.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Three years of experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Peoplesoft or Banner.
- One year of experience with relational databases, SQL, and query writing.
- One year of team lead or supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Information Technology or related field.
- Experience working with People Soft Query Manager or creating dashboards using tools such as Power BI.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Develops and maintains expert technical and operational knowledge of Registrar’s Office core functions.
- Excellent organizational, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Ability to troubleshoot, research, and resolve root cause issues.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
