DescriptionThe Facilities Project Manager provides oversight, contracting, and administration of design and construction phases of capital projects. They develop and manage budgets for new construction, remodeling, and renovation projects. They maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with design specifications, local, state, federal codes, regulations and laws, and the Florida Building Code.
Responsibilities- Plans, documents, implements, and administers assigned construction/renovation projects, through coordination with internal and external stakeholders, within approved scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, laws, and user requirements.
- Develops comprehensive project plans and timelines in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinates with external vendors and contractors to procure services, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance.
- Monitors/maintains and assists in developing budgets for new construction, remodeling, and renovation projects.
- Establishes and maintains relationships and communication with vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders to promote collaboration, provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project timeline and goals.
- Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and ensure successful implementation.
- Responsible for the preparation of agenda items, construction updates, and reports for Board of Trustees meetings.
- Manages and reports on the status of project developments and implementations and ensures completion of planning, budgeting, scheduling, to ensure efficiencies as project is completed.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining the state‑mandated Project Priority List, the Capital Improvement Program, five‑year Educational Plant Survey, and Master Plan Deferred Maintenance plan, as well as providing input and justification for capital budget development and project ranking.
- Schedules and facilitates meetings with design professionals and contractors, reviews construction schedules, permits, applications, designs, Request for Information (RFI) and material test reports, and monitors the delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Reviews, evaluates, and manages contract deliverables and approves invoices, change orders, final payments, and other contract documents.
- Manages and maintains accurate project files and records, such as surveys, design and as‑built drawings, expenses, specialized reports, permitting and inspection documents.
- Monitors jobsite safety and reviews project preparedness plans from contractors for emergency situations.
- Coordinates with city, county and utility companies concerning easements, right‑of‑ways, and permanent power connections.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Works inside, outside, and in construction area environments.
- Work may require exposure to sun, rain, wind, heat, cold and other weather conditions.
- Work may require exposure to elements involving heat, dampness, fumes, dust, and noise, which are present on a frequent basis.
- May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Travels overnight occasionally within and out of the state of Florida.
- Travels to College‑owned campuses and facilities.
- Required to drive College vehicles.
- Requires work on roofs, walking projects, working under moving loads and around moving heavy equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of experience in construction project management or similar field (such as superintendent, project coordinator, or construction trades).
- Valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment, with acceptable driving record.
- Associate’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
