Req#: 4078699 The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting pre-screen questionnaires for the position of SUPERVISOR, JUVENILE ENFORCEMENT CENTER (ALTERNATE SANCTIONS). This position supervises, coordinates, and directs the work activities of staff with the Juvenile Enforcement Center, under the supervision of the Division Lieutenant or Manager for Sheriff's Work Ethics and Training (SWEAT) and Consequence Alternative Sanctions Unit (CASU). Provides supervision, training, instruction, and guidance to assigned staff.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: The duties listed below are in addition to the duties assigned under the associated job description. The omission of specific work statements does not necessarily exclude them from being performed by the position and are for illustrative purposes only.

  • Coordinates timely review to ensure proper compliance with assigned directives.
  • Ensures staff is following all Seminole County Sheriff Office policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and provides instructional guidance and training for specific case and/or employee needs.
  • Conducts case staffings and follow-up to ensure all client needs are being met.
  • Conducts contract/grant audits on a regular basis to ensure all time frames and contract/grant directives are being met.
  • Develops training curriculum and coordinates training sessions for assigned staff.
  • Completes performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Coordinates and completes special work projects as assigned by the Division chain of command.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with other Juvenile Justice agencies, as well as public and private providers.
  • Attends meetings and actively participates as a professional representative of the Sheriff’s Office and Division of Juvenile Justice.
  • Supervises the implementation of policy and procedures established by the Department or Division.
  • Reviews referrals, assigns cases, reviews files, and paperwork for case closures.
  • Creates and maintains schedules for direct reports to include PTO and after-hour duties such as classes and juvenile supervision duties.
  • Oversight of grant and contract accountability, performance measures, budget, data, reports, compliance, and fidelity.
  • Program Development:
    Create policies and procedures for program, update as needed, Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Works closely with the Seminole County School Board and attends School Board hearings.
  • Oversees Eugene Gregory Youth Memorial Academy.
  • Oversees Department of Juvenile Justice contract for SWEAT and CASU.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Applicant must have five (5) years clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of related training, education, and experience.
  • Applicant must be able to become NCIC/FCIC certified within six (6) months of appointment to the position.
  • Applicant must be able to become Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) certified within one (1) year of appointment to the position.
  • Applicant must have a valid Florida Driver's License.

Attendance: Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs, and calls for service during times of an emergency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of the functions, services, procedures, and regulations of the department to which assigned.
  • Skills in the application of supervisory techniques; ability to proof own work and the work of others.
  • Ability to interpret and explain laws, statutes, regulations, and other directives if applicable to job assignment.
  • Ability to prioritize work of the team.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
