Overview
Senior Traveling Field Service Technician – Power Transformers
Base pay range: $32.00/hr - $35.00/hr

At NASS, we provide the broadest set of one-stop substation service capabilities in the country—from turnkey upgrades and asset assemblies to major repairs and testing, including transformers and breakers, switches, arresters, and apparatus testing, to comprehensive substation inspection programs, protection and control commissioning and repairs, and control cabinet engineering.
Compensation details and eligibility vary by geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

The hourly rate is between $32.00 - $35.00 per hour and factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
Job purpose:
This position performs routine skilled and technical support work in the inspection, repair and maintenance of transmission and distribution substation electrical equipment. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may involve hazards such as moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical shock hazards, and noise.
- Assemble and repair high voltage power transformers.
- Operate oil processing equipment for transformer vacuum filling and oil processing.
- Maintain oil processing equipment in mechanical working order.
- Transport oil processing equipment, generators, and trailers to customer locations.
- Assist in coordinating substation services with technicians, electricians and project managers.
- Travel to different customer sites/locations.
- Oversee equipment performance and ensure proper function.
- Provide reporting on equipment gauge monitoring and daily progress/activities.
- Must have 5 or more years of industry experience.
- High School diploma or GED; supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are desired.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to pass a fit-for-duty exam.
- Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.
- Able and willing to travel up to 75% as needed.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- NCCO Crane Certification
- Some knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of mechanical systems
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in power distribution facilities
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, prints, and various metering/recording devices
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
