Summary of PositionAdvanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems and may involve welding and fabrication.
2nd Shift / Sign On Bonus $8,000Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the A Technician will be responsible for diagnostics related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles. The role includes maintenance and repair of all aspects of Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, and McNeilus vehicles and equipment, supporting coworkers in safe and efficient maintenance, completing paperwork, following safety policies, maintaining a clean work area, utilizing vehicle computer electronics, conducting safety checks, using Factory Service Manuals, and maintaining high standards of ethics and dependability.
EssentialJob Functions
- Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, diagnosing fleet vehicles.
- Maintaining and repairing Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, and McNeilus vehicles.
- Supporting coworkers in safe and efficient maintenance.
- Completing required paperwork promptly.
- Following safety policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Using vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure modes for repairs.
- Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Repairing using Factory Service Manuals.
- Maintaining high standards of ethics and dependability.
- Drive Train inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
- General engine inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
- Transmission inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
- Outside repair inspection review.
- Assess structural damage and assign repairs.
- Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to shop technicians.
- CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain a CDL license.
- Obtain 7 ASE certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
- 3-5 years of hands‑on technical experience with medium‑duty Class 8 vehicles and equipment, preferably with waste/recycling industry experience.
- Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets and ability to use computers for data tracking and communication.
