The UGE Laborer/Groundman is responsible for supporting the crew by assisting with the installation/repair of underground power lines. Duties also include gathering materials needed to complete daily work at the jobsite while promoting a safe work environment. This position supports the Line team and works with personnel within various departments.

• Gather materials for the job that day and make sure the crew has everything required.
• Distribute material at job site safely.
• Help with any work necessary to complete the job.
• Operate construction and jobsite equipment safely; equipment includes rubber-tired backhoe, skid steer loader, directional drill, trencher, and mini excavators.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Minimum

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in utilities or construction.
• A CDL Class A license.

Preferred

• 2 or more years of experience in the construction and/or the utility industry.

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

This job actively requires the ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
