Position:Fleet Mechanic
The Fleet Mechanic will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vac trucks, and other company vehicles. The mechanic will ensure that all vehicles are safe, reliable, and in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Position Responsibilities Maintenance and Repair- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other routine tasks.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance to reduce the risk of breakdowns and ensure vehicle longevity.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and fix issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on each vehicle.
- Track parts inventory and order new parts as necessary.
- Document vehicle service histories and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct vehicle inspections to meet Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). other regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to environmental regulations regarding the disposal of hazardous materials.
- Work closely with the fleet management team to schedule maintenance and repairs.
- Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics and apprentices.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and other staff to diagnose issues reported in vehicle operation.
High school diploma or GED required.
Vocational training or certification in automotive repair preferred.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is highly desirable.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with experience in fleet maintenance.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Strong mechanical and technical skills.
Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of vehicle issues.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
The position may require working in various weather conditions.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
May involve standing, bending, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.

- Continually improve personal technical, personnel, and customer relations skills.
- All interactions with customers, owners, managers, etc., whether it is in person or a telephone call, will be conducted with respect and in a professional manner.
- Corporate Systems Manager will be notified of any issues that cannot be resolved, or deadlines that cannot be met within a reasonable time frame, and before the deadline has arrived.
