Utility Equipment Operator II – D&C – Sanford location

We are looking for a detailed individual who possesses thorough knowledge in the operation, maintenance, capabilities and limitations of equipment used in the area of assignment; knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions involved in the operation of equipment; understanding of traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; familiarity with City and Department policies and procedures; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;

ability to detect signs of mechanical failure of equipment; ability to make minor repairs and adjustments; arithmetic computation skills; and the ability to use measuring devices. The candidate must establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Special Requirements

The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Possession of a valid North Carolina Class "B" commercial driver's license (CDL) is required upon hire and may also require a Class "A" CDL. The successful candidate must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for the division assigned to, which include Confined Space, North Carolina DOT Flagger, Work Zone and Traffic Control, and Trenching and Shoring within six months of employment.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary: $43,276.27 (DOQ), earned & paid on a bi‑weekly basis. Eligible for up to 5% increase after successful completion of the probation period.
