Summary:

The Youth Peer Support Partner role facilitates peer support and provides one-on-one support to youth through support groups and activities, education and outreach. This role will support youth in meeting their self-directed life, wellness and/or recovery goals.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education:

    High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • License/

    Certifications:

    Completion of, or ability to complete State of Maine Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) Certification required. Provisional CIPSS Certification is required within 9 months of start date. If CIPSS is required, the ability to maintain certification is required. Valid Driver's License and vehicle available for work covered by liability insurance as specified by agency policy required.
  • Experience:

    Experience providing one-on-one and/or group facilitation peer support preferred.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements

    Required:

    Youth Peer Support Statewide Network must be between the ages of 18-26 years of age. Personal history of significant mental health/substance use challenges and a willingness to be open about these challenges in peer support relationships required. Computer proficiency required.
