DescriptionDescription Provides primary or acute health care services for certain acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
QualificationsGraduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Master’s level preparation preferred.
A minimum of one to two years of Nurse Practitioner experience in primary care or the discipline of practice is preferred. Eligibility to prescribe Schedule drugs in accordance with the regulations of the state of NC is preferred.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of NC and licensed by the NC department of Health Professions as a Nurse Practitioner. Current national certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center or other credentialing center recognized by the board (See Regulations governing the Licensure of Nurse Practitioners published by the NC Board of Nursing/ NC Board of Medicine).
Current Authorization to Prescribe by the State of NC. Must have a current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate and American Heart Association healthcare provider BLS.
Must be thoroughly familiar with the principles and practice of a Nurse Practitioner. Must have a general knowledge of the operation and administration of a medical office, well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills and be very reliable. Recognizes and maintains confidentiality of patient records. Must be able to perform activities that involve an independent evaluation or treatment of a patient’s condition. Must possess background knowledge in the biological, behavioral, medical and nursing services relevant to the practice as a Nurse Practitioner and possess knowledge of the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of a Nurse Practitioner.
