Position

Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only ensure that the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the scheduled times in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers! The Driver, Hourly CDL‑A is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, and possible overnight drive‑and‑drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food‑related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).

They communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. The driver functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company safe driving guidelines, and policies.
  • Inspect trailer to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices, and complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedule; unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy; verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; collect money where required.
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork; remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean; secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at shift end.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • 1+ years of commercial Class A driving experience.
  • Valid CDL‑A; must be 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card.
  • Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying weight (10–35 lbs, up to 60–90 lbs depending on location).
