Senior Tax Associate – Sales & Use Tax

Compensation: $43–$48/hour + 10% target bonus

Position Overview:

A growing organization is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to support its corporate tax function, specializing in sales and use tax compliance, reporting, research, and reconciliations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely indirect tax filings across multiple U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.

• Prepare and review sales and use, gross receipts, and other indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions, including Canadian GST, PST, HST, and QST.
• Manage resale and exemption certificates, including preparation, review, maintenance, and ERP tax adjustments.
• Research tax regulations and provide guidance on product taxability and exemption requirements.
• Assist with sales and use tax audits, documentation, and compliance requests.
• Prepare tax journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and support accurate financial reporting.
• Identify process improvements and support special tax projects.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of indirect tax and accounting experience within a multi-state organization.
• Strong knowledge of sales and use tax compliance, research, and reconciliations.
• Experience with Avalara (Ava Tax/ECM) or Vertex preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and macros.
• Experience with tax research tools such as CCH preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
• Construction or building materials distribution experience is a plus.
