Position: Bilingual Community Engagement Specialist (Field Representative)/Election Representative(Extra Help)

About the Position

Bilingual Community Engagement Specialist (Field Representative)/Election Representative (Extra Help) – Available languages:
Chinese, Farsi, Hmong, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Nepali, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese. The role is a temporary, seasonal extra help position that will be posted for a minimum of five business days and remain open on a continuous basis until the needs of the Agency are met. Responsibilities
  • Organize community programs and events with multiple deadlines, maximizing available time and using office resources efficiently.
  • Conduct Street Team Engagement by walking throughout the county to promote the Registrar of Voters Office, register voters, disseminate election information, and build partnerships with local events and businesses.
  • Spend approximately 70% of the time working in the field.
  • Attend community events, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Schedule, implement, and suggest community events and voter engagement outreach ideas.
  • Support speaking engagements at community events to promote the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
  • Perform office duties such as uploading photos, tracking event statistics, organizing materials, and coordinating event logistics.
  • Communicate with event organizers and coordinate with ROV staff to maintain promotional materials and technical equipment.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where culturally diverse people work together to meet organization goals.
  • Maintain effective working relationships across cultural differences with employees, businesses, community organizations, and the general public.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications

The candidate should be effective at managing a wide array of tasks, maintaining a team calendar, and be flexible to meet the Registrar of Voters’ community outreach goals. The candidate should understand, interpret, and apply procedures, policies, and regulations, and be willing to work overtime with little notice.

    Interact professionally and courteously; answer inquiries with diplomacy and enthusiasm; anticipate and meet customer needs; establish productive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Comfortable in a public‑facing role; value free flow of information; demonstrate strong writing and grammar skills; convey information clearly and articulately; exercise discretion with confidential information; bilingual skills are highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge & Office

    Experience:

    Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Calendar, and PowerPoint; manage pertinent information with documents and spreadsheets; experience transporting and assembling materials (tables, chairs, etc.).
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Work well in a team environment; demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic; work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Physical:
    Vision sufficient to read standard text, fine print, and handwriting; speak and hear clearly in person and over the phone; independent mobility to stand, sit, walk, stoop, and bend to perform daily tasks; ability to sit for prolonged periods; manual dexterity to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Mental:
    Ability to reason logically, reach conclusions, and remain calm and focused in interpersonal situations.
  • Environmental:
    Ability to work in an office setting and manage changing priorities, deadlines, and multiple assignments concurrently.
  • All candidates must pass a background check (employment history, professional references, criminal check, and pre‑employment physical), possess a valid California Class C driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.
