Outage Management System (OMS) Specialist
Join us as an Outage Management System (OMS) Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE).
Base pay range: $99,400/yr – $149,100/yr
Job OverviewAs an Outage Management System (OMS) Specialist
, you will provide technical knowledge for critical outage management projects, ensuring the success of our grid management capabilities. You will help define the future of grid management, solve complex technical issues, and support the planning, delivery, and operational support of our outage management technologies.
- Provide operations support, troubleshooting, integration testing, and user training.
- Perform technical analysis to define grid application requirements and updates.
- Monitor and analyze energy usage data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
- Support testing and implementation of new grid application releases.
- Identify root causes of issues, recommend solutions, and provide recommendations to management.
- Maintain reliability of grid application advanced apps and control applications.
- Implement action plans to prevent future system issues.
- Configure and modify grid application databases, ensuring accurate telemetry and controls.
- Provide engineering support to grid operations by resolving complex issues with new technologies.
- Maintain power system modeling, state estimator, contingency analysis, and power flow analysis for real‑time operations.
- Ensure protection of physical, financial, cybersecurity assets, and sensitive data.
- Three or more years of experience designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex utility, real‑time, or enterprise systems; OR three or more years as a user of a utility grid application.
- Experience with transmission and distribution networks, SCADA and control systems.
- Three or more years of experience supporting an electric utility outage management system.
- Proficient analytical skills for troubleshooting real‑time systems.
- Ability to create and execute shell script and/or Python.
- Proficiency with SQL queries and reporting tools.
- Experience in data analysis and business reporting development.
- Strong coordination and communication skills to work cross‑functionally and with vendors.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Jenkins.
- This position’s work mode is hybrid; employees will report to an SCE facility a set number of days and may work remotely otherwise. Work and residence in California is required unless otherwise noted.
- Includes phone and occasional on‑site technical support for troubleshooting complex system issues.
- OMS is supported 24/7, 365 via after‑hours on‑call rotation.
- The primary work location is Santa Ana, CA, with possible travel up to 5% and field work across the SCE service territory.
- Position is NERC/CIP impacted; background investigation and required training must be completed before unescorted access is granted.
- Option for a 9/80 alternate work schedule or standard 40 hrs/5 days.
- Relocation does not apply.
