Position Description

This position is a specialty role in the Santa Ana Engineering Group that will be dedicated to supporting the department’s hydrology and storm water quality review, analysis, modeling, and report writing. It also includes general engineering support for project needs such as plan production, design engineering, and other tasks. Flexible work schedules are offered, accommodating remote, hybrid, or in‑person arrangements to support work‑life balance.

• Lead and support activities to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal environmental rules and laws related to stormwater quality.
• Perform hydrology mapping and calculations using hand calculations and hydrology software.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to size stormwater devices.
• Write clear, thorough reports to explain and compile the hydrology and hydraulics of the site.
• Prepare and perform necessary calculations for stormwater reports (e.g., WQMP, LID, SWPPP) and compile reports for submittal.

• At least 3 years of applied hydrology and stormwater quality work with professional engineering experience focused on compliance, site hydrology and hydraulics.
• Knowledge and experience applying state and federal laws, policies, and regulations related to stormwater quality.
• Proven track record in preparing Drainage Studies, WQMP, LID, and SWPPP documents, and experience in land development design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
• Strong focus and attention to detail.
• Strong writing, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
• Valid & current driver’s license.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills; excellent communication and organizational skills.
