Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, conducting tax research, and contributing to strategic tax planning efforts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership potential, provide guidance to junior staff, and proactively stay updated on changes in tax laws and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Preparation & Compliance
  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns of varying complexity.
  • Estimate tax liabilities and payments for individuals and businesses.
  • Assist in resolving IRS notices and draft correspondence regarding compliance issues.
  • Research complex tax issues and present findings clearly.
  • Ensure work complies with current tax regulations and industry standards.
  • Tax Planning & Advisory
  • Identify and communicate tax planning opportunities to management and clients.
  • Draft client recommendations based on research and analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax law and implications for clients.
  • Client Service & Communication
  • Interact directly with clients during engagements to address questions and gather information.
  • Develop an understanding of client businesses and industries to deliver tailored service.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest professional standards in all client interactions.
  • Leadership & Staff Development
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Support staff development through coaching and feedback.
  • Assist in internal training initiatives and contribute to team development.
  • Process Improvement & Internal Operations
  • Follow established processes and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate across departments to support firm-wide initiatives and project execution.
  • Participate in special projects, committees, or internal task forces as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA certification or progress toward licensure is a plus).
  • 2–5 years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting or a professional services environment.
  • Strong background in tax compliance for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and research software (e.g., Pro System fx, CCH Engagement).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. tax code and relevant regulatory guidance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
