Community Impact Program Manager
Position OverviewThe Community Impact Coordinator supports the planning and implementation of United Way of Santa Barbara County’s community programs, including Fun in the Sun, Bridge the Break, United Learning Centers, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and initiatives such as the Holiday Gift Drive and the Imagination Library.
This position plays a key role in program delivery and logistics, providing support across volunteer coordination, site operations, data collection, administration and stakeholder engagement. The coordinator works closely with program staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure all programs are effective and aligned with United Way’s mission to enrich the lives of children and families and build resilient communities.
ResponsibilitiesProgram and Curriculum Support:
Assist with the implementation of academic and enrichment initiatives, including Fun in the Sun, Bridge the Break, and United Learning Centers. Responsibilities include scheduling, curriculum coordination, and activity planning to support student academic success.
Event and Operational Logistics:
Manage day-to-day logistics for program delivery, including scheduling, supply coordination, inventory tracking, and data collection. Ensure all materials and resources are prepared and accessible for staff, volunteers, and participants.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Foster consistent, positive relationships with program stakeholders—including staff, volunteers, parents, and community partners—to support a collaborative culture and strong program outcomes.
Volunteer Engagement:
Coordinate volunteer participation across programs, with emphasis on VITA and Lunch Bunch. Responsibilities include recruitment, training logistics, ongoing communication, and ensuring compliance with program and site requirements.
Financial Monitoring:
Support the monitoring of program budgets and tracking of related expenses to ensure responsible fiscal management for events and initiatives.
Communication and
Collaboration:
Serve as a liaison across internal departments, community partners, and program teams. Promote effective communication and coordination to support aligned planning and delivery.
Data and Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and timely records of program enrollment, volunteer participation, and other key performance metrics used for reporting and evaluation.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
Lead outreach and recruitment efforts for program participants, seasonal staff, and volunteers. Represent United Way at public events and community functions to promote awareness and encourage engagement in UWSBC programs.
Professional Conduct and Staff Participation:
Model professionalism and integrity in all interactions with students, families, staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders. Attend and actively participate in all required staff trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, nonprofit management, public administration, education, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Experience working in youth-serving environments such as classrooms, after school programs, or summer camps.
- Understanding of program design, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
- Familiarity with youth development principles and experience supporting educational or enrichment programs.
