Brief Summary OfJob Duties
Under supervision, performs operational level groundskeeping duties as assigned. Cultivates planted areas; plants, fertilizes, and maintains shrubs, small trees, lawns, and other ground covers; may operate irrigation systems manually and by automatic controls. Uses a variety of hand and powered tools and equipment, including lawn mowers, edgers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, and vacuums. Cleans grounds and walks of litter; empties trash receptacles;
maintains and makes minor repairs to tools, irrigation and drainage systems.
- 1-3 years or one year of experience in grounds maintenance or gardening, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check.

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts a conditional offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; received notice of any allegation or are currently the subject of any administrative or disciplinary proceedings involving misconduct;
have left a position after receiving notice of allegations or while under investigation in an administrative or disciplinary proceeding involving misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of misconduct with a previous employer.
- 40% – Grounds Maintenance: plants, fertilizes, and maintains shrubs, small trees, lawns, and other ground covers. May operate irrigation systems manually or by automatic controls. Works cooperatively with other Groundskeepers and Lead Groundskeepers to maintain campus grounds/landscape.
- 30% – Refuse Maintenance: cleans walks and grounds of litter; empties trash receptacles; trims shrubs and small trees; removes weeds; rakes leaves and other debris.
- 20% – Equipment Handling: operates hand and power mowers, edgers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, and a variety of hand tools.
- 10% – Safety: complies with FM Safety Program and all health and safety regulations.
