Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $21.05/hr. to $25.17/hr salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $21.05/hr. to $27.23.

About the RanchThe Las Varas Ranch is an 1800-acre coastal ranch along the Gaviota Coast in Santa Barbara County. The ranch is bisected by the 101 freeway and expands from Edwards Point to the Los Padres National Forest. Las Varas is a working cattle ranch and avocado-growing operation. Las Varas' front portion, open to the Pacific Ocean, consists of 520 acres of pasturelands, lemon and avocado orchards, Eucalyptus trees, Live Oak trees, Juniper trees, two active creeks and expansive beaches.
The ranch's northern portion consists of 1300 acres of canyons and foothills with views of the coast and Santa Ynez mountain range. The hillside features open meadows and Oak forests leading up to an 18-acre lake at the foot of the mountains. Revered by the Chumash as part of the "12 Coastal Canyons," Las Varas' history includes a portion of the 18-century Spaniards' El Camino Real which winds its way between the ranch's front and northern portions.
The Ranch Hand is responsible for providing unskilled and semi-skilled physical labor in support of the daily operations of running a working cattle ranch and avocado/lemon orchards. Duties include assisting with raising and maintaining crops, operating farm equipment and machinery, assisting with maintaining ranch grounds, and assisting in the care and raising of livestock.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check
- UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment
- Must be able to work some weekends and overtime
- Must be able to operate farm machinery and tools
- Must be able to drive a tractor and light truck
- Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time- 100% Provides unskilled and semi-skilled physical labor in support of the daily operations of running a working cattle ranch and avocado/lemon orchards.
