Unarmed Security Guard Public Facilities Santa Barbara

Black Cube Security is hiring dedicated, professional Unarmed Security Guards to support public safety and community engagement at various City of Santa Barbara facilities, including Cabrillo Pavilion, parks, beaches, and public events. This role requires high visibility, strong communication, and the ability to de-escalate tense situations professionally and respectfully.

Shifts Available

Weekdays: 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Weekends/Holidays: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Overnight patrols (Randomized checks at beachfront locations)

Special event shifts (4+ hours)

Responsibilities

Patrol assigned facilities and public areas (indoor and outdoor)

Enforce the City’s Parks and Recreation Code of Conduct

Deter and report disruptive, illegal, or unsafe behavior

Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact law enforcement when needed

Check and secure restrooms, doors, and high-traffic areas

Write accurate incident and daily activity reports

Provide respectful customer service and direction to public visitors

Minimum Qualifications

Valid California BSIS Guard Card

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in security or public facility patrol

Must speak and write clearly in English (Spanish highly desirable)

Physically able to stand/walk for long periods, work outdoors, and conduct patrols

Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Ability to work independently and follow written post orders and procedures

Required Certifications (Must be Provided Before Hire)

BSIS Guard Registration (active and in good standing)

Current First Aid & CPR Certification (Required on-site)

Security training in:

Crowd control and emergency response

De-escalation and public engagement

Customer service and diversity awareness

Mental Health First Aid (Preferred)

Uniform & Equipment

Must maintain a clean, professional appearance in company-issued uniform

Must carry picture g your name and employer at all times

Recordkeeping

Must maintain clear and accurate logs of daily activity, events, and incidents

Familiarity with basic computer/email use required

Bonus Qualifications

Previous experience working in public parks, beaches, or city facilities

Experience supporting events involving alcohol service or traffic control

Familiarity with Santa Barbara local ordinances and police protocols

Important Notes

Full-time positions preferred; part-time available for events and backup

All candidates must be punctual, alert, and able to follow protocols strictly

Guards must be available to start assignments by July 28, 2025
