Payroll Consultant

Support accurate, compliant payroll operations for a growing technology organization as a Payroll Consultant. This part-time role will manage end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 400 employees across the United States and Canada, using Rippling to process payroll, run reports, and validate results.

You will also prepare and book payroll-related journal entries, reconcile payroll activity, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, Accounting, and external payroll partners. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact while supporting an upcoming transition to Workday Payroll. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

• 5+ years of end-to-end payroll processing experience
• Hands-on experience processing payroll for both U.S. and Canadian employees
• Direct experience processing payroll and running reports in Rippling
• Experience preparing and booking payroll-related journal entries
• Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, payroll taxes, year-end processing, and audits
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis
• Ability to review and process payroll inputs, including:
• New hires and terminations
• Time sheets and compensation changes
• Bonuses, commissions, and equity-related compensation
• Deductions, benefits, and garnishments
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and discrepancy-resolution skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external providers
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities independently

• Experience with Net Suite
• Experience with Workday Payroll
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
• Experience supporting a high-growth technology organization
• Familiarity with the payroll implications of equity compensation, including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP
• Experience optimizing payroll processes and strengthening internal controls
• Experience supporting payroll system implementations or migrations
• Experience developing scalable payroll processes in a rapidly growing organization

• 5+ years of progressive payroll processing experience, including responsibility for U.S. and Canadian payroll
• Experience supporting payroll for a workforce of approximately 400 employees
• Professional payroll certification, such as CPP, is preferred but not required

• Part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week
• Initial contract duration of approximately 2 months, with potential to extend into April 2027
• Remote work is available; candidates able to work onsite in Mountain View one day per week are preferred

• Ability to maintain complete payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements
