Part-Time Learning Disability Specialist/Counselor (Pool)

Mission College invites qualified candidates to join our counseling department as a part‑time Learning Disability (LD) Specialist and Dual Services and Programs for Students with Disabilities (DSPS) Counselor. The role supports students across campus with specialized counseling, assessment, and course placement services.

• Counsel and advise students on an appointment or drop‑in basis.
• Perform specialized work duties during registration periods.
• Teach Counseling courses as needed.
• Conduct academic and disability assessments and collaborate with faculty and services.
• Provide ongoing student follow‑up and case management.
• Collaborate with campus departments and maintain documentation.
• Foster a respectful, bias‑free environment in all interactions.

• LD Specialist
  :
  Master’s degree in learning disabilities, special education, counseling, psychology, or related field; 15 upper‑division or graduate semester units in learning disability or related assessment.
• DSPS Counselor
  :
  At least one of the following:
  • Master’s in rehabilitation counseling;
  • Master’s in counseling, psychology, or related field with 15+ upper‑division or graduate units in disability counseling, or
  • Bachelor’s in marriage & family therapy with Licensed MFT status.
• Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion for community‑college students.
