Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is seeking an Estimating Engineer to assist the estimating staff in the preparation of project estimates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform quantity take-offs and manage scope and statements.
- Attend estimating meetings.
- Assist with affirmative action good‑faith efforts as required.
- Make phone calls as required to obtain bidding status of Primes and subcontractors prior to bid day.
- Meet with project owners and/or Senior Estimators to review job conditions for private estimates.
- Solicit sub‑contractor and material pricing and copy/send bid information as required.
- Assist staff in determining equipment needs, solicit pricing, and calculating labor estimates.
- Attend pre‑bid meetings.
- Assist in the review of subcontractor quotes prior to bid.
- Assist the Coordinator with bid day preparation, delivering bids, and posting bid results and communicating results to subcontractors as necessary.
- Assist with sub‑contractor and supplier database management.
- Assist with updating material and subcontractor sources.
- Attend in‑house pre‑construction meetings, seminars, and training programs.
- Enhance relationships with customers and manufacturer‑suppliers.
- Maintain effective communications with internal & external customers.
NOTE:

- BS or BA degree preferably in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited college.
- Prior experience in Earthwork, Concrete, and Utility takeoff is a plus.
- Experience with Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Trimble Business Center, or AGTEK.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD.
- Ability to work in a pressure environment and to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge in the general construction industry.
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis.
- General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, bending.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
