Project Engineer – Santa Clara, CA, United States
Kennedy Jenks (KJ) is a leading engineering and environmental consulting firm founded in 1919. We specialize in water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, and treatment process improvement projects, focusing on sustainability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Analysis: develop detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations for water and wastewater infrastructure projects; manage planning, design, and construction support for civil infrastructure.
- Project Management: support larger projects or lead smaller components, coordinating with the Project Manager, team members, and sub‑consultants; assist in managing budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Technical Support: provide expert support to multi‑disciplinary teams for infrastructure projects, including pipelines, tanks/reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment facilities, applying industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Field Work: conduct site inspections and field measurements, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
- Documentation and Coordination: prepare engineering and contract documents, review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFI requests, and produce site observation reports.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
assist in preparing client presentations and maintaining communication, ensuring compatibility with design intent.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline required;
Master’s degree preferred. - 5+ years of experience in planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Broad understanding of municipal engineering, site development design, construction methods, and design codes.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work‑life balance and uses a hybrid model of home and office work, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
SalarySalary range: $105,000 to $170,000, varying by education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
