The Assistant Controller will partner directly with the CFO of a respected nonprofit organization to modernize financial operations and support the organization’s continued expansion.
A well-established, mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support its mission through strong financial leadership and operational excellence. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will oversee accounting operations including general ledger management, month‑end close, audit preparation, and compliance. The Assistant Controller will also mentor team members and collaborate across departments to strengthen systems and ensure financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and month‑end close
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage annual audit preparation and ensure compliance with reporting standards
- Drive process improvement and systems optimization
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Mentor and develop accounting team members
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (nonprofit or complex multi‑entity preferred)
- Strong GAAP knowledge and audit experience
- Skilled in process improvement and systems optimization
- CPA or active pursuit preferred
