Director, Oracle Fusion Cloud Finance & Transformation

Upwork’s Finance System’s team is responsible for sustaining, developing and maintaining critical system capabilities associated with the effective running of Accounting and Finance teams. The team strives to improve efficiency constantly and proactively by automating and streamlining operations and reducing manual effort.

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Finance Systems to help take us from our existing Oracle EBS R12.2 implementation to Oracle Fusion Cloud allowing us to support the scaling of Upwork’s internal applications to the next phase of its growth. The successful candidate will be implementing and managing technology solutions that drive efficiency, productivity, and innovation within Upwork.

This role will be pivotal in spearheading our digital transformation initiative to deliver many benefits to our business teams. This role will interact with executive leadership along with a variety of business function heads to make business decisions to shape the enterprise financial technology that is sustainable. This highly visible role requires someone to come in and roll up their sleeves to drive the development of people, team, process and technology to address operational optimization opportunities.

Our ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in Oracle Fusion Cloud Finance and leading other business applications for organizations like Upwork and bring cross-functional leadership, be an expert communicator and love working with multiple stakeholders for common outcomes with high stakes at company level. Experience in various SaaS-based applications and their connectivity to ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion Cloud Finance is also required.

Your Responsibilities

• Application and Domain Knowledge:
  Oracle Fusion Cloud application configuration, integrations, automation, AI, customizations, and reporting. In-depth knowledge of Oracle R12.2 and Oracle Cloud EBS in a financial environment. Experience in architecting solutions in multiple Oracle ERP modules such as GL, AP, AR, FA). Strong knowledge of accounting processes and hands-on technical expertise in an enterprise-wide information technology department as it pertains to ERP and other applications.

• Application Management:
  Manage the Oracle Fusion cloud application with our product management and business systems team. Be the primary contact for Cloud ERP key business functions including Finance, Accounting Support the Finance/Accounting teams during month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process.

• Enterprise Integrations and Reporting:
  Ensure a smooth flow of information between Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Coupa, Vertex, Concur, Workday and custom applications by designing our business system architecture and leveraging API based data integrations. Help direct report design.

• Planning & Strategy:
  Develop and execute a strategic roadmap that aligns with Upwork’s overall business objectives ensuring financial tools support and enhance our order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, planning, and other critical processes. Identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements technology/engine reuse, technology and architecture health, and development process improvement.
