Role Summary

The Superintendent 2 will help plan, manage and execute on all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. This position will be responsible for managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

  • Superintendent Family - Core responsibilities include leading safety culture, managing subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow; supervising staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs (Safety, Quality and EEO) for projects; developing work plans; coordinating site care; leading meetings; managing project schedules; tracking budget and costs; communicating project information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors and other departments; maintaining project documentation;

    approving/recording unit costs and reports; evaluating progress of self-perform work; managing material and equipment needs; supporting procurement processes; assisting in formwork/tool selection; managing timecard approvals; ensuring quality compliance; supporting project closeouts; understanding pursuit processes; participating in pre-plans and project reviews; staffing with field leadership; identifying and negotiating project changes; promoting diversity and inclusion; and adhering to non-discrimination policies.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
  • Manages fairly complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.
  • Assumes responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on their project or portion of the project.
  • Identifies, understands and actively manages project risks.
  • Uses experience to identify problems and recommends solutions for the team.
  • Manages deliverables from internal resources such as IPS, logistics, etc.
  • Participates with project team in project pursuits and negotiations for project changes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Verbal and written communication skills (Intermediate).
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations (Intermediate).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).
  • Knowledge of construction management fundamentals and project processes.
  • Ability to build relationships within and outside the team.
  • Proficiency in project management and accounting software (Intermediate).
  • Proficiency in JE Dunn construction technology and scheduling software (Intermediate).
  • Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy (Intermediate).
  • Knowledge of trades, self-perform work and labor productivity (Intermediate).
  • Ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through relationships (Intermediate).
  • Understanding of organizational structure and available resources, layout, crane flagging and rigging (Intermediate).
  • Ability to understand document changes and their impact on project schedule, and to collaborate effectively.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
Experience
  • 5+ years construction experience.
  • 3+ years field supervision experience.
  • Experience with Lean principles (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
