Senior System Software Engineer

NVIDIA is seeking highly motivated Senior Software Engineers to join the Cumulus Linux team. In this role, you will help develop the network operating system that powers our data‑center switches, building core infrastructure services and Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) features for the Debian‑based OS that runs on NVIDIA’s Ethernet switches.

• Work closely with customers to understand pain points, new use cases and deployment strategies, and propose innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with product, architecture and engineering teams to define, design and deliver features, and ensure end‑to‑end integration into Cumulus Linux.
• Design, develop and maintain new functionality and improvements across system services, infrastructure components and their APIs.
• Write software in C, Python and Shell scripts.
• Debug and resolve issues reported by Quality Engineering and customer‑facing teams.

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of enterprise software experience for infrastructure components / libraries and networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, timing protocols, high availability, process health monitoring, software upgrades, YANG, SNMP, Netconf, gNMI).
• Proficiency in C, Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience with source‑code management, code‑coverage, unit testing and debugging tools.
• Strong technical and problem‑solving skills, and solid design, coding and debugging abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deliver independently with minimal supervision.

• Hands‑on experience in infrastructure components, libraries and networking protocols.
• Depth in Linux systems, Linux kernel networking and exposure to CI/CD tools.
• Active participation in the open‑source community.

With competitive salaries and generous benefits, NVIDIA is a highly desirable employer. Base salary ranges for Level 3 are USD 148,000–235,750, and for Level 4 USD 184,000–287,500. You will also be eligible for equity and other benefits.
