Position OverviewThe Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts, and for preparing reports and analysis for senior management and third parties. This position is full time and will be based at our Valencia location.
Main responsibilities- Regularly provide status of financial condition of the organization by preparing special reports and supporting financial reviews with banks and outside accountants.
- Maintain financial records and track company expenditures, profit and loss, cash flow, and other financial activities by analyzing balance sheet, general ledger accounts and Pentagon transactions.
- Reconcile general subsidiary bank accounts by gathering and checking accuracy of calculations and postings to the general ledger.
- Compute, classify and record numerical data to keep financial records complete and accurate in general ledger and Pentagon sub-systems.
- Prepare journal entries and any necessary adjusting or accrual journal entries.
- Participate in month‑end and year‑end closing, and prepare financial reports and various tax return and banking compliance reporting.
- Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable and payable detail and control accounts, and by preparing fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare inventory reconciliation and research subsidiary issues.
- Maintain independent financial records of subsidiaries in foreign currencies.
- Monitor freight accounting activity.
- Prepare sales and gross profit reporting and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation for audits, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Maintain and update work instructions for tasks performed.
- May perform other related duties and reporting as assigned or requested by Senior Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3‑5 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Extensive knowledge of economics and accounting principles and practices.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, management and communication skills.
- Time Management – ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changes.
- Ability to learn a variety of job tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Good general computer skills with MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams, inventory management systems.
