Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Controller with construction accounting experience. This hands‑on leadership role oversees all financial functions — from job costing and WIP reporting to budgeting, compliance, and team management. You’ll report directly to ownership and work closely with project management to keep the financial engine running smoothly.

• Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, payroll, job cost, etc.)
• Maintain accurate financial records and produce monthly financials
• Manage WIP schedules and support project managers with cost tracking and forecasting
• Conduct monthly and year-end closing with efficiency
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
• Interface with external CPAs, banks, bonding agents, and insurance
• Supervise and develop a team of accounting professionals, ensuring continuous growth and development
• Recommend and implement process improvements and system upgrades

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar (CPA a plus)
• Strong grasp of job cost accounting, WIP, and % of completion methods
• Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g. Viewpoint-Vista, HCSS, etc.)
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
