Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Adjunct Instructor
Join the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program as an adjunct instructor at Inside Higher Ed. The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus or other college locations. Part‑time faculty positions are as needed positions, offer flexible hours, and provide an opportunity to help a diverse group of students achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities Service- Assume leadership roles within the department and the institution, collaborating across disciplines and utilizing student support resources.
- Participate in department, division, and college committees and governance activities.
- Contribute to curriculum and program development.
- Work collegially and collaboratively within the college community.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor‑student interaction.
- Effectively engage diverse students of varied backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
- Adapt teaching pedagogy to individual and class needs, and respond to evidence‑based assessment of student learning.
- Integrate new technologies into learning, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Minimum Requirements
Possession of an unexpired credential in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. OR
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher with at least two years of professional experience related to the teaching assignment and a current valid license in California.
OR
- Any associate degree with at least six years of professional experience and a current valid license in California.
Please Note
- Registered in Abdomen, OB/Gyn, and/or Vascular by ARDMS, CCI, and/or ARRT.
- Responsible for didactic teaching (lecture and lab), mentorship, precepting, exam proctoring, interdisciplinary education, and academic and service duties at the College.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and the ability to manage a classroom environment for community college students of varied academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- May only be assigned to teach a specialty course for which valid credentials exist.
Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening) and Saturday classes.
Adjunct Salary Rate:
Starting at $88.30 per hour.
