We are accepting applications for the EOPS/CARE Counselor Adjunct Applicant Pool at College of the Canyons.
The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part‑time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. They offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals, across transfer, general education, vocational and occupational programs.
Responsibility OverviewPart‑time adjunct faculty are engaged in institutional service, teaching, and student support.
Service Responsibilities- Assume leadership roles within the department and the institution.
- Commit to serving the needs of the student, department, college and community.
- Collaborate across disciplines and utilize student support resources.
- Participate in department, division, college committees and participatory governance activities.
- Participate in curriculum and program development.
- Work collegially and collaboratively within the college community.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.
- Effectively engage and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
- Adapt teaching pedagogy to individual and class needs, and self‑reflect and respond to evidence‑based assessment of student learning.
- Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an unexpired California Community College Counselor Credential in the appropriate area; OR a Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work or career development, or the equivalent.
- Completed a minimum of nine semester units of college coursework predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
- OR completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college‑level counseling practicum or counseling field‑work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
- And for EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987, two years of occupational experience relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages is required.
- Applicants who meet equivalent qualifications must also submit a Request for Equivalency Form.
Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening). Adjunct salary rate starts at $88.30 per hour. Offer and acceptance are subject to verification of all information and required clearances.
