Master Generator Technician

Illumination Dynamics, Inc. (), a supplier of Conventional, Automated and Theatrical Lighting equipment, Trucks and Generators to the Motion Picture, Television, Sports Broadcast, Entertainment and Corporate industries with offices in California and North Carolina.

is looking for a highly skilled Master Generator Technician with minimally 5+ years’ experience in critical power management. A successful candidate must have a positive attitude, excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic. This position is at our Santa Clarita, CA facility and applicant must live within a reasonable commuting distance to allow for prompt response time if needed.

The role of Generator Technician is a full-time position. Your primary focus will be providing first class technical solutions to ensure paralleling equipment is in top operating condition. You will be responsible for repairs and troubleshooting primarily of diesel generators and assist as needed to troubleshoot issues with OTR Commercial and Local delivery trucks/vehicles. This role will require communicating, troubleshooting, and instructing generator technicians remotely while under considerable pressure.

Detailed knowledge of Paralleling Generator systems is required. Fabricating and welding skills are beneficial. Diesel Truck Mechanical experience is a strong plus.

• Diagnose and repair both engine and electrical component problems.
• Troubleshoot any issues occurring remotely in collaboration with generator operators.
• Working on call on-call rotation, as well as regular work hours on site.
• Overnight travel for very short time periods to assist with equipment issues on site, on rare occasions may be required.

• Initiative-taking and willing to work with little supervision.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong Electrical and Mechanical aptitude.
• General knowledge of generator theory, systems, equipment, and maintenance required.
• Ability to read and interpret generator drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Detailed knowledge of Genset controllers, digital voltage regulators, remote monitoring, modems, etc.
• Ability to stay calm and perform well under pressure.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build, fabricate and/or modify equipment as needed including OTR commercial and local delivery vehicles, generators, and trailers a plus.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to correctly use diagnostic meters and tools.
• Ability to operate both standard and power tools.

• Possess valid driver license with good driving record (Class A or B a plus).
