Contingent 1D Simulation Engineer

This position involves developing and maintaining 1D engine and propulsion models using GT Power, correlating simulations with test data, and supporting performance, drivability, and thermal assessments through various simulations.

• Build and refine models of intake, exhaust, and system components, ensuring accurate correlation with test results.
• Perform steady state and transient simulations for full and part load conditions, supporting design and calibration decisions.
• Conduct DOE and optimization studies to explore design parameters such as valve timing, boost, turbo sizing, and combustion strategies.
• Translate insights from CFD and testing into 1D models, incorporating loss and heat transfer considerations.
• Develop standard methods, templates, and procedures for model setup, correlation, and analysis.
• Process large data sets for visualization, reporting, and decision-making.
• Provide design recommendations based on model results and sensitivity analysis.
• Communicate findings through reports and presentations to cross-functional teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with propulsion simulation, especially GT Power or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of combustion engines, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
• Experience building, correlating, and evaluating 1D engine models.
• Proficiency in data analysis and scripting (e.g., Python).Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.

• Master's or PhD in related fields.
• 5+ years of advanced GT Power experience, including coupled models and optimization.
• Background in engine testing, calibration, and control strategies.
• Experience with coupled 1D-3D CFD analyses and model standardization within engineering teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in global, cross-functional teams.
