American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg/Tele Float RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and mandatory floating to DOU and ARU.
Details- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Floats mandatorily to ARU and DOU based on facility needs, receiving patients within scope of practice
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 in DOU and 1:5 in ARU
- Every other weekend required (Sunday nights do not count as a weekend shift)
- Fast-paced Med/Surg/Telemetry unit
- Active CA RN license
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- CPI certification preferred
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Prior experience with patient ratios of 1:4-5
- Any EMR charting system experience required, Meditech preferred
- Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experienced in feeding tube care, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Proficient in starting and maintaining IVs
- Skilled in nasal cannula, oxygen face mask use, and non-invasive airway management
- Tracheostomy care and management experience required
- Wound care and wound vac management experience required
- Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
- Arterial line and PICC line management skills preferred
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients preferred
- High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) experience preferred
- Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) preferred
- Neurological care experience including craniotomy, CVA, post-TPA care, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury preferred
- IV insulin protocol management preferred
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) preferred
- Pacemaker management and pre/post cardiac cath care experience preferred
- Surgical drain management preferred
- Total joint replacement care experience preferred
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with cardiac monitoring responsibilities
- Manage patients with complex needs including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and gastrointestinal conditions
- Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
- Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront at the time of application
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
