Arthur noted that some businesses never encounter those contract values. Do not screen solely on government-related keywords.
Government opportunity portals, Haystack and CAV reporting familiarity helpful. Internal ERP and pricing tool used; no specific CRM platform is a knockout requirement. General business-software proficiency supports the work. The transcript's isolated "SAP" wording is not evidence of an SAP software requirement.
Top 3 Skills/Must haves- 1. Applied government contracting knowledge: requirements, approval processes and customer/channel navigation.
- 2. Sales ownership: opportunity development, pricing negotiation and internal business-case development.
- 3. Manufacturing background with cross-functional problem-solving and disciplined follow-through.
Defense aftermarket experience; foreign military sales; distributor management; repair/overhaul exposure; government sourcing tools. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Broad responsibility in a smaller manufacturing business may be useful, based on the previous successful employee, but is not a mandatory company-size filter.
