Our client, a leading food and beverage manufacturer, is looking for a skilled Flavor Technologist to join their team in San Fernando area of California.

Job type: Contract-hire

Pay rate: $31- 36/ hr.

Position Summary: The Senior R&D Chemist is responsible for analyzing, developing, and improving new and existing products. This role includes collaborating with internal and customer teams, conducting feasibility analyses, performing cost evaluations, and overseeing product testing. The chemist is also responsible for creating formulas, compounding instructions, and specifications, while providing technical support and training to R&D teams. This position requires advanced creativity, independence, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products with minimal supervision, based on customer or internal requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses and cost evaluations for product development.
  • Create and revise formulas, specifications, and compounding instructions.
  • Provide technical support to customers and brokers, and troubleshoot during first-time production.
  • Supervise and guide R&D teams, ensuring consistent product quality.
  • Organize and ensure smooth handling of all outgoing samples.
  • Collaborate with QC and Production teams during new product launches.
  • Offer training and leadership to R&D chemists, ensuring effective teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development within the chemistry or food science industry.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Proficient in laboratory and technical procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
