We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

We are seeking a highly skilled Python developer with 5+ years of Python Development experience, preferably having 2+ years of experience with ARP
4761 or ARP
4754A processes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building robust tools and automation solutions in support of safety‑critical systems development and certification.

The primary responsibility of this role is software development in Python to build software tools that support systems engineering and system safety processes.

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based tools and automation scripts in a Windows environment.
• Contribute to system engineering and system safety efforts for complex systems, including documentation and tool support.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation of systems engineering and system safety related software tools.

• Bachelors or higher degree in Engineering discipline - Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace preferred.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Python development, preferably in a Windows environment.
• Experience with aircraft reliability and maintenance programs.
• Able to read and review technical schematics and engineering drawings and specifications.

• FAA certification experience, specifically certifying complex, integrated aircraft systems.
• Experience with 2X.1309 analyses and guidance material – such as Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E, SAE ARP 4761, and SAE ARP 4754A
• A basic understanding of aviation software development and system communication protocols.
• A basic understanding of RTCA/DO-178 and RTCA/DO-254.
• Experience using STPA methods on complex systems.
• Familiar with Dassault Systemes engineering and management tools.
• Private pilot certificate

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $118,800 - $158,400/year. The compensation package will be determined by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
