Staff Systems Test Engineering – Software Integration

We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
Joby Aviation is seeking a Staff Systems Test Engineer who is a highly organized, passionate individual with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. This position will split their time between our Systems Tests facilities in Santa Cruz (HQ), Bonny Doon, and Marina. The role operates in a fast paced, demanding, and rewarding environment with very high expectations for individual contribution.
Responsibilities- System Test focal for Software, Modeling/Simulation and Automation teams to define integration needs, support test scenario preparation and follow up on execution aligning with company goals.
- Oversee system test automation strategies (test case authoring, configuration control, test execution, analysis) to improve test efficiency.
- Drive troubleshooting and root cause investigation activities for flight deck, powered network, avionics, integrated flight and propulsion control systems, special test and fault injection equipment across system test assets.
- PCCB review, impact assessment, coordination with stakeholders.
- Own the test automation validation and associated documentation required for certification credit with coordination with Test Automation and IFPCS team.
- Review software, simulation & hardware emulation changes, perform impact analysis on test venues & test campaigns and coordinate changes.
- Bachelor’s in engineering or relevant fields.
- 8+ years of experience in an engineering environment with responsibility for implementing or managing change.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing multiple high-paced engineering projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of the product development cycle for hardware-centric projects from early design through to completion and launch.
- Expertise in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence, and JIRA.
- Proficiency in common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, etc.) with the ability to create and maintain performance and efficiency metrics.
Experience with aerospace projects and FAA certification process is desired, but not required.
Compensation and BenefitsCompensation is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Target base pay $170,600 – $227,500 per year, determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
