Position description

The Diversity in Development Lab, directed by Dr. Hyesung Grace Hwang in the Psychology Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a lab specialist.

The Diversity in Development Lab investigates socio-cognitive development starting from infancy. The research themes the lab specialist will examine include how infants and children start to develop social biases, and how their social environment – their families, schools, neighborhoods, cultures, and more – influences these conceptions. We are also interested in investigating children's emerging conceptions of politics, equity, and activism. We examine these processes in racially, linguistically, and culturally diverse populations and use a variety of interdisciplinary methods across psychology, neuroscience (e.g., EEG), physiology, and sociology.

Please see DID Lab for more information about our research.

The position will require the incumbent to consistently demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking). The lab specialist will have opportunities to be involved in preparing conference presentations, drafting journal manuscripts, and to initiate their own research projects in collaboration with Dr. Hwang and her students.

We are dedicated to supporting and mentoring the next generation of scholars from all lived experiences. We welcome applicants who would like to gain research skills and pursue doctoral or graduate programs in the future.

Applicants with experience overseeing undergraduate research assistants in a lab setting are strongly encouraged to apply.

The hiring unit will not sponsor employment-eligible immigration statuses for this position.
