High Impact Math Tutor

Minimum 20 hours per week; additional hours may be available based on student need and grant funding

Compensation: $30.00 per hour Position Summary

New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) seeks a High Impact Math Tutor to provide targeted mathematics intervention to high school students through individual and small-group instruction. The tutor will primarily support students in Algebra I, including students in NMSA's double-block Algebra I intervention model, and may also work with students in Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and other mathematics courses.

Tutoring will occur primarily during the regular school day and will focus on addressing skill gaps, strengthening foundational mathematics skills, and helping students succeed in grade-level coursework.

Essential Duties
  • ? Provide a minimum of 20 hours per week of individual and small-group mathematics tutoring.
  • ? Provide targeted intervention in foundational mathematics, pre-algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Precalculus as needed.
  • ? Work with mathematics teachers to identify students needing support and align tutoring with classroom instruction.
  • ? Use IXL, assessment results, course performance, and other student data to identify skill gaps and monitor progress.
  • ? Maintain consistent tutoring schedules and accurate records of student participation, instructional focus, and progress.
  • ? Adjust instruction based on student performance and demonstrated needs.
  • ? Communicate regularly with teachers and appropriate staff regarding student progress and concerns.
  • ? Complete required program documentation, training, and grant reporting activities.
  • ? Maintain student confidentiality and comply with NMSA policies and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • ? Perform other duties related to mathematics tutoring and student academic support as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • ? Demonstrated proficiency in secondary mathematics.
  • ? Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
  • ? Ability to work effectively with high school students individually and in small groups.
  • ? Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
  • ? Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other school staff.
  • ? Ability to successfully complete required background checks and other public-school employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ? Bachelor's degree in mathematics, education, science, engineering, or a related field.
  • ? New Mexico teaching license or previous secondary mathematics teaching or tutoring experience.
  • ? Experience providing mathematics intervention or remediation.
  • ? Familiarity with Algebra I through Precalculus and with IXL or similar instructional platforms.
Work Schedule and Funding

This position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, primarily during the regular school day. Additional hours may be available based on student need, program requirements, and available grant funding. The specific schedule will be established by NMSA.

This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon program needs and availability of funding.
