Translator - Japanese

Overview

The Translator will provide translation services for individuals with a language barrier. Translation will consist of, but not be limited to, education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services, etc.

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

• Accurately translate situations such as lectures, conversations, meetings, medical, and legal.
• Remain HIPAA compliant when interpreting or translating in a healthcare setting.
• Abide by the client’s policies.
• Abide by the American Translators Association Code of Ethics.
• Render a complete and accurate translation without altering, omitting, or adding anything to what is stated or written, and without explanation.
• Be sensitive to the culture of the original and target languages during the translation process.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent plus years of experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Certified Translation Professional.
• Translation certifications.
• Certifications from a previous agency or accreditation from a translation program.
• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Japanese.
• Ability to pass a background check; additional checks may be required at any time during employment.

• Ability to facilitate translation with discretion and impartiality.
• Proficiency in written communication.
• Wide breadth of knowledge in various topics.
• Cultural awareness when conducting translations within different regions.
• Problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe toolsets (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.).
• Highly motivated and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Self‑starter; able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Medical interpreter certificate from either the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters or National Certification for Medical Interpreters.
• Two years of legal translation experience.
• Two years of medical translation experience.
• American Translators Association certification.
• Court certified translator certificate.

Deputy Program Manager

• Professional remote environment.
• On‑call status; notified within 48 hours of potential jobs.
• Physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time.
• Skilled with computer and office productivity tools at sufficient speed to meet demands.
• Ability to establish a productive and professional workspace.
• Ability to sit for long periods at a computer screen.
• Flexible schedule possible, including holidays and outside normal business hours.
