Position
Purpose:
Organizes and directs assigned unit duties to provide quality nursing care to residents.
Essential Functions of Position:- Responsible during the shift for the total nursing care of residents in the assigned unit.
- Assumes responsibility for compliance with Federal, State, Local, and company regulations.
- Explains procedures and treatments and care plans to residents.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Transcribes physician's orders.
- Chart progress notes in an informative, factual manner that reflect the care administered as well as the residents’ response to care.
- Receives/gives report from/to nurse he/she is receiving/coming on and records sufficient information and implements appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
- Conducts frequent rounds to evaluate effectiveness of care delivery.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident.
- Monitor that C.N. A's documentation is completed daily.
- Takes report form C.N.As to facilitate accurate documentation in resident medical record.
- Coordinates residents' rehabilitation program with therapists to ensure 24-hour rehabilitation needs are met.
- Records new/changed diet orders. Forward information to Dietary Department.
- Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Reports to Director of Nursing
Must be skilled in directing, motivating and training staff and able to work as a member of a team; able to communicate effectively with residents, family members and all levels of the organization and maintain confidentiality. Should be a graduate of an accredited RN/LPN School of Nursing with valid RN/LPN state license, and a minimum of 2 years nursing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
