Security Technician - Santa Fe

Provide security for patients, employees, visitors and all individuals who come into contact with PHS. Have a working knowledge of security equipment and systems as required. Perform hazard and risk surveillance in conjunction with fulfillment of security program execution.
Qualifications- Less than one year experience in general security; 1 year preferred.
- Effective communication, written, and documentation skills.
- Must be able to perform all requirements and training of a security technician.
- Must be able to demonstrate familiarization of hospital locations and operations within 6 months of hire date.
- All facilities require the ability to drive a company‑owned vehicle.
- Must have a current New Mexico driver’s license, and must be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.
Education:
Essential – High School Diploma or GED.
- Complete all required training within prescribed time limits.
- Conduct routine and ad hoc patrols of hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized visitors.
- Conduct hazard surveillance for safety, security and infection control issues.
- Complete activity log for each shift worked, detailing activities and accounting for complete shift or duty hours.
- Check equipment, including patrol vehicle daily, documenting on appropriate checklist.
- Serve as an organizational member of the PHS ADS Hazardous Material / Decontamination team as required.
- Respond to Workplace Violence reports, and notify appropriate Security Division supervisor as appropriate.
- Conduct investigations, maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertaining to security as required.
- Maintain and enforce established departmental/organizational policies and procedures.
- Prepare written documentation as required by the profession, department and organization.
- Interact and professionally manage issues with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, vendors and all who come in contact with PHS.
- Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies as required and approved by PHS.
- Keep supervisor informed of activities and location during the shift.
- Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assist and escorts in a timely manner.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in‑service meetings and scheduled training.
- Secure patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintain logs of items received.
- Control parking and traffic flow, enforce parking policies and issue citations as required.
- Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confront possible unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Gather necessary information over the radio, phone or in person in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
- Give appropriate response times to requests for service.
- Report to work on time, properly uniformed and with all equipment checked and functional.
- Gather necessary information at start of shift to ensure up to date on current events to adequately perform duties.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality as required and report any confidentiality breaches to proper authorities immediately or as soon as possible.
- Report any misconduct of any PHS employee, visitor, physician or anyone who comes into contact with PHS to supervisor, director or appropriate authority within prescribed time limits.
- Maintain all security equipment, uniforms and vehicles as required and report any issues or misuse to supervisor or director as soon as possible.
- Follow chain of responsibility accordingly.
- Keep supervisor or director informed of any changes in personal information related to work.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, classes, etc.
- Heavy lifting of greater or equal to 50 pounds in more than 33% of shifts when self‑defense is deemed necessary.
- May be required to assist with lifting of patients, visitors, staff or deceased persons.
- Capable of defending self and others within violent incidents; assist medical staff in restraint of violent, agitated or hostile persons.
- Capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.
