SummaryTo plan, coordinate, control, and perform tasks required to keep mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating & cooling operational. Provide for an uninterrupted flow of utilities based upon existing design criteria. Major emphasis placed on preventive and predictive maintenance. The tradesperson shall be capable of working with little or no supervision and limited direction from specialized trades.
Responsibilities- Perform all preventive maintenance procedures on fixtures and equipment within a predetermined zone in a timely manner as prescribed in Facility Services SOP.
- Primary responsibility for performing repairs, lubrication and adjustment on all hospital equipment to ensure a comfortable and safe environment.
- Prioritize tasks and methods independently within established PHS and Facility Services policies, procedures, and schedules.
- Evaluate and monitor performance of building and utility systems in assigned zones.
- Adhere to PHS and Department Policies and Procedures.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills through educational programs and in‑service meetings.
- Understand department operating budget and suggest methods to keep operations within budget; develop plans and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs.
- Serve as a resource to departments within zone in facility maintenance operations.
- Support organizational visions, values, and strategies.
- In charge of preventive maintenance on all pumps, motors, air handlers, vacuum pumps, and medical air pumps.
- Conduct daily rounds on equipment and ATSs; maintain and change filters when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- High School Diploma and preferably Trade or Vocational School certificate in plumbing trade.
- At least 5 years of plumbing trade experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Journeyman Plumbing License may be required.
